Offboarding

Offboarding, also called employee exit management, refers to the processes used when an employee leaves the company, whether due to resignation, termination, or retirement.

Common activities during an employee offboarding include:

• Handing over job responsibilities and transferring knowledge
• Recovering company-owned work equipment
• Removing user accounts and revoking account access
• Conducting exit interviews and collecting feedback

An effective offboarding helps maintain a positive employer reputation, attract "boomerang employees" (former employees who return to the company after some time away), prevent loss of productivity and knowledge, and ensure compliance.
