Employee journey mapping is an exercise that helps HR and People Operations teams visualize the process employees go through while working at your company.
An employee journey map includes a series of events and action on a timeline representing the employee lifecycle (or part of it). This is then fleshed out with the thoughts and emotions employees have at each stage as well as the channels and stakeholders involved.
Depending on the goals, employee journey maps can be created for the entire employee lifecycle or for specific moments that matter (e.g. onboarding, promotion, offboarding). It's also possible to create an employee journey from a specific persona's perspective (e.g. remote workers, working parents, new joiners).
