How well do you remember your onboarding at the last 2 or 3 companies you joined? How it made you feel?
I asked some friends, and the answers were more or less the same: "I don't remember much of it." Or at best: "Hm, let me think... I got some company swag."
Now, what about the offboarding – the weeks before your departure?
Every time I asked this question, I got an instant reaction: "Lots of laughter and tears." "Chaotic! I returned my laptop 2 months after I left." "Everyone was so supportive." "There was no offboarding!"
I also remember the last weeks much more vividly than the first weeks.
Maybe there's a pattern here. Or maybe my sample size is too small. But either way, we shouldn't underestimate the power of last impressions.

The checklist you need for employee offboarding – and how to automate it
Believe it or not, a smooth offboarding process can be just as important as onboarding.
